Whether you raise or catch your own food or buy from someone else, you can preserve vegetables, meats and seafood at their peak of freshness to enjoy later.
Hillsborough County Extension Service will teach you:
- How to can vegetables
- How to can meats & seafood
- What equipment is needed
- Types, pros and cons of canners
- How to use a pressure canner
- What can and cannot be altered safely in a recipe
- Plus, what’s important for safety
Participants will get directions, recipes and resources to take home. The class will demonstrate equipment and procedures. The new USDA Canning Guide will be for sale at a discount price. Everyone will go home ready to start canning.

Classes will be at the Hillsborough County Extension Service office, located at 5339 County Road 579 in Seffner.
