Fatal Road-Rage Shooting Leaves 1 Dead: Hillsborough County Sheriff

RIVERVIEW, FL — A man was arrested in relation to a fatal road-rage shooting that left one person dead Tuesday afternoon in Riverview, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Jorge Ramirez, 20, was charged with three counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He could face additional charges, the agency said.

When deputies responded to the corner of Rose Lane and Baytree Driver around 2:45 p.m., they found Bryan Proenza, 34, with multiple gunshot wounds.

Detectives immediately spoke with Ramirez, the shooter, who was standing outside his home down the street from where the victim’s body was found, the sheriff’s office said.

Proenza died from his injuries while being brought to the hospital.

"Our hearts break for this family who lost a loved one in the face of senseless violence," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “At this time, our detectives are meticulously piecing together the moments that led up to this fatal shooting. While this investigation is active, we urge anyone who might have witnessed the incident to please come forward."
