“We’re grateful for the support this tournament brings out each year. It allows us to continue doing the impactful work necessary to help deserving families on their journey to homeownership,” said Tina Forcier, CEO at Habitat Hillsborough.
Registered teams will kick off with a 1 p.m. shotgun start at Cypress Creek Golf Club to compete for a trophy in the 18-hole tournament and other prizes, including $10,000 cash, vacation packages and more. CURA is presenting this year’s golf tournament, where proceeds will help to build a home for Davila, who had put her homeownership dreams on hold following her husband’s death in 2015. The couple had been raising two children and six grandchildren.
Last year’s event raised $47,000 that supported construction of a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home in the Silvio Palms community. The golf tournament is one of the fundraisers for Habitat Hillsborough’s signature Real Estate Build, an opportunity for members of the local real estate industry to volunteer to build Habitat homes for local families. Since its inception in 2019, the Real Estate Build has completed homes for four families.
“While we can certainly expect a fun day, we never lose sight of the goal to help families in need of affordable homeownership,” said Larry Vargas, a real estate broker at Pineywoods Realty. “We’re proud to partner with Habitat Hillsborough as it speaks to our mission of building strong relationships and finding solutions that work for potential homeowners.”
