Motorcyclist Recovering After Crashing Into Clearwater Police Vehicle

A motorcyclist is recovering from multiple broken bones after crashing into a Clearwater police vehicle driven by a police sergeant.

CLEARWATER, FL — A motorcyclist is recovering from multiple broken bones after crashing into a Clearwater police vehicle driven by a police sergeant on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard and McMullen Booth Road on April 19.

Clearwater police and the Clearwater Fire & Rescue Department responded to the crash at 11:39 p.m. The police sergeant driving a 2022 unmarked Ford Explorer was attempting to turn left onto Gulf-to-Bay from southbound McMullen Booth Road when a westbound motorcyclist ran a red light at a high rate of speed, causing the collision, police said.

The motorcyclist and the police sergeant were taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg for treatment of their injuries. The police sergeant sustained minor injuries.
