New Murder Charge Filed In Jan. 26 FL Road-Rage Shooting: Sheriff

RIVERVIEW, FL — A man was arrested Tuesday in Brevard County by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and charged with second-degree murder with a firearm in connection with a fatal road-rage shooting in Riverview on Jan. 26, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Jorge Ramirez, 20, was initially charged with three counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon when he was first arrested for this incident.

He will be brought to Orient Road Jail in Tampa.

“Our detectives have worked diligently and left no stone unturned to ensure that this individual was held accountable for this senseless crime,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “Road rage has no place in our community. Our hope is that the victim’s family can find peace knowing that justice will be served.”

When deputies responded to the corner of Rose Lane and Baytree Driver around 2:45 p.m. on Jan. 26, they found Bryan Proenza, 34, with multiple gunshot wounds.

Detectives immediately spoke with Ramirez, the shooter, who was standing outside his home down the street from where the victim’s body was found, the sheriff’s office said.

Proenza died from his injuries while being brought to the hospital.
