New Fire Station Breaking Ground In Riverview

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue is establishing a four-bay station that will have at least 12 full-time professional staff each shift.

BLOOMINGDALE — RIVERVIEW, FL — Hillsborough County Fire Rescue will break ground on a new fire station near the intersection of Rhodine Road and U.S. HIghway 301 in Riverview on Thursday, Sept. 9, a news release said.

Fire Rescue Station 46 will serve the fast-growing southern part of Hillsborough County. The station is being built on land already owned by the county.


The four-bay station will have at least 12 full-time professional staff per 24-hour shift, with special operations and heavy rescue specialists. It will be home to the following apparatus:

  • Fire Engine
  • Rescue Ambulance
  • Ladder Truck
  • Heavy Rescue Truck

The station also includes the latest in architectural safety measures such as laundry and showers between the apparatus bays and the main part of the station so that firefighters can decontaminate before entering the station’s living quarters. Eliminating carcinogens is critically important in keeping firefighters healthy from cancer-causing smoke and residue common in modern fires, officials said.
