The 2013 Florida Strawbrerry Festival kicks off today, Sunday, March 3, with Randy Houser set to perform at 3:30 p.m., followed by Alan Jackson at 7:30 p.m.

2013 Florida Strawberry Festival: Need To Know Sunday, March 3

Today is Mountain Dew Family Day at the 2013 Florida Strawberry Festival.

  • Bring a Mountain Dew can to the festival and receive a voucher for $5 off the $25 wristband and ride all day for only $20.
  • The Mountain Dew can is not valid for gate admission.
  • Baby Contest is sponsored by South Florida Baptist Hospital. (The contest is open to Hillsborough County babies only.)
  • Youth Plant Show & Sale sponsored by Gulf Coast Turf and Tractor.

Also at the festival today:

  • Gates open and close at 10 a.m. and 10 p.m.
  • The midway opens at 10 a.m.
  • Admission is $10 for people age 13 and up and $5 for children ages 6 to 12. Children age 5 and under are admitted for free when accompanied by a paying adult.
  • Pee Wee Showmanship (dairy) kicks off at 11:30 a.m. at the Patterson Co. Livestock Arena.
  • The Dairy Costume Ball is set to begin 12:30 p.m. at the Patterson Co. Livestock Arena.
  • The Youth Plant Sale kicks off 2 p.m. at the Swindell Family Pavilion.
  • Randy Houser is set to perform 3:30 p.m. at the Wish Farms Soundstage.
  • Register for the Baby Contest from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m., at the Sweetbay Supermarket Showcase Tent. (The contest is open to Hillsborough County babies only.) The contest is from 5 to 7 p.m. and includes the Deocrated Diaper Contest, Baby Features Contest and Diaper Derby.
  • Alan Jackson is set to perform 7:30 p.m. at the Wish Farms Soundstage.
