Tampa Bay Organization Gives To Program Helping Survivors Of Human Trafficking

Hands Across the Bay, a 501(c)3 certified non-profit organization, received a year-long sponsorship for its empowerment classes.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — Survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking along with parents of chronically ill children can benefit from a recent Pepin Family Foundation $10,000 donation to Hands Across the Bay, a news release said.

The year-long sponsorship donation goes toward Mackenzie's Empowerment Zone, a program in Hands Across the Bay, that offer empowerment classes for survivors along with first responders and law enforcement living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

“We are unbelievably grateful to the Pepin Family Foundation for partnering with Hands Across the Bay and providing its generous support of Mackenzie’s Empower Zone in our new Donation & Empowerment Center,” Julie Weintraub, founder of Hands Across the Bay, said. “This sponsorship will allow us to hold meetings to support, guide, and empower survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking, families facing hardship and first responders who have experienced trauma.”

Hands Across the Bay's goal is to help improve the lives of Tampa Bay residents who have been through traumatic situations such as human trafficking, domestic violence, etc. Weintraub's name probably sounds familiar because she is president of Gold & Diamond Source.

The organization's goal is to inspire the community to become more compassionate, empathetic and charitable by assisting and mentoring families in need and advocating for change.

“By supporting the quality programs from Hands Across the Bay, the most at-risk members of our community will have additional resources to work through their trauma and learn skills that will help them throughout their lives,” said Tina Pepin, director of the Pepin Family Foundation.“Our foundation strives to build lasting friendships with like-minded partners, like Hands Across the Bay, and we’re thrilled for the opportunity to present this donation and establish a meaningful relationship that benefits the local community.”
