Man Attacked For Skin Color, Mass Shooting Threat Made: Sheriff

A man threatened to carry out a mass shooting with the goal of killing 70 people following a road rage incident in Pinellas, police said

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — A Riverview man was accused Sunday of attacking a person because of the color of his skin and followed that with threats of a mass shooting, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.

Jordan Leahy, 28, sideswiped the victim's vehicle in Pinellas County while he was under the influence of alcohol. The suspect then stopped his vehicle near the intersection of Starkey Road and Bryan Dairy Road, according to an affidavit. Leahy is accused of punching the victim in the chest. The victim was able to prevent further physical violence by putting Leahy in a hold.

Officials said Leahy told deputies they should get people of color under control. Before police arrived Leahy reportedly got out of his vehicle, made the Nazi salute and wanted to fight a random person of color, according to the affidavit.
