Tampa Motorcyclist Killed After Crashing Into Trailer On I-75

A 23-year-old Tampa man died after his motorcycle collided with a trailer full of vehicle parts towed by a Ford F250 pickup truck on I-75.

TAMPA, FL — A 23-year-old Tampa man died after his motorcycle collided with a trailer full of vehicle parts towed by a Ford F250 on Interstate 75 Tuesday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 12:30 a.m., the Tampa man was riding a 2014 Kawasaki motorcycle at a high rate of speed on I-75 in Hillsborough County when he overtook and collided with the trailer.

The motorcyclist was thrown into the open trailer as debris from the collision spread across all southbound lanes of the interstate, said troopers.

The motorcyclist was airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.

The driver of the F250, a 53-year-old Apollo Beach man, was uninjured.

A secondary crash occurred when five drivers struck debris from the trailer.

The crash closed the southbound lanes of I-75 until 3:40 a.m.
