Driver Dies In Fiery Christmas Eve Crash In Tampa Area: FL Troopers

TAMPA, FL — A man driving a Honda Accord died on Christmas Eve in a fiery single-vehicle crash on State Road 574 in the Tampa area, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

The driver, whose identity isn’t known, was heading east on the highway when he lost control of his car west of Falkenburg Road just after 5 p.m.

He drove off the road, hit a pedestrian handrail, went into an embankment and hit a utility pole, FHP said. The car burst into flames after crashing into the pole.

The driver was declared dead at the scene.
