7th Annual Military Agriculture Tour To Educate Veterans, Active-Duty About Ag Business

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — All the adjustments of transitioning from a military active-duty service member to a civilian can feel overwhelming—especially finding a new career.

Military veterans, reservists, transitioning active-duty personnel, and their spouses can explore agricultural career options at the seventh annual Military Agriculture Tour on March 18. A free bus tour of agriculture businesses in southern Hillsborough County will leave the Hillsborough County Extension Office in Seffner at 8 a.m.

Today's agriculture industries increasingly focus on using technology and management systems for the production of food, medicine, consumer products and energy, a Hillsborough County news release said.

During the tour, participants will be introduced to career paths and job opportunities within modern agriculture operations and supporting industries by visiting a variety of farming operations and the University of Florida Gulf Coast Research and Education Center in southern Hillsborough County.

The tour is organized through a partnership between Hillsborough County Extension Service and community partners committed to assisting transitioning veterans.

Pre-registration at the event page is required by March 16. Seating is limited, and lunch will be provided for participants.
