100+ Bunnies Rescued From Hoarder Up For Adoption In Manatee County
More than 100 rabbits rescued from a "heartbreaking" hoarding incident in Bradenton are now available for adoption, Manatee County said.
BRADENTON, FL — More than 100 rabbits rescued from a “heartbreaking” hoarding incident in Bradenton are now available for adoption, foster and transfer to rescue organizations, Manatee County Animal Welfare wrote in a Facebook post.
Last month, MCAW officers responded to a home to find the bunnies living in “distressing conditions,” the agency wrote. Sixty-nine rabbits were rescued alive and 32 were found dead.
Many of the rabbits, now under the care of the Bishop Animal Shelter, were found to be pregnant and have since given birth, “adding to the urgency of their situation,” MCAW wrote.

The agency is also looking for fosters to open their homes to mother rabbits and their babies for six to eight weeks until they’re ready for adoption. All needed supplies will be provided.
MCAW is also urging rescues and shelters nationwide to consider transferring some of the rabbits into their care.
Contact Lauren.Tryon@mymanatee.org or Taunia.Ireland@mymanatee.org for more information.
The agency is also seeking donations of rabbit supplies: 4- and 5-inch ceramic bowls, chew sticks, rabbit toys and hand towels. They can be dropped off at the Bishop Animal Shelter.
“Together, let’s give these rabbits the second chance they deserve,” MCAW wrote.
