6 Students, 2-Year-Old, Woman Injured In FL Crash Involving 3 School Buses, SUV
An SUV caught fire in a Manatee County crash involving three stopped school buses from Fort Pierce High School, FL Highway Patrol said.
MANATEE COUNTY, FL — Six students, a 2-year-old boy and a woman were injured in a fiery Friday night crash in Manatee County involving an SUV and three school buses from St. Lucie County, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.
A 32-year-old Tampa woman was driving a Ford Exhibition east in the eastbound outside lane of State Road 70 near Palmbrush Trail when she hit the back of a stopped school bus in the same lane just before 8:30 p.m., FHP said.
This pushed the bus forward to hit another bus stopped in front of it and that second bus was also pushed forward to hit a third stopped bus.

After the crash, the SUV caught fire, FHP said.
The woman suffered minor injuries and was brought to a nearby hospital. The 2-year-old Tampa boy in her SUV was critically injured and airlifted to an area hospital.

The three school buses had a total of 90 students and six adult passengers from Fort Pierce Central High School on them, FHP said.
Six students were brought to a hospital in the area with minor injuries.
The three bus drivers, a 40-year-old Port Saint Lucie woman, and a 64-year-old man and a 42-year-old man, both from Fort Pierce, were uninjured in the crash, which remains under investigation.
