Couple Assaulted at Bradenton Home, Officials Say
A man was injured with a baseball bat and required surgery after he came to aid of his girlfriend early Saturday morning, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

A man and a woman were assaulted early Saturday morning at a Bradenton home, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The couple went to pick up the woman's sister at a home in the 5700 block of 11th Street East. The woman went into the house while her boyfriend waited in the car, according to sheriff's report.
The woman got into an argument over money with two men in the house, then was reportedly pushed out of the house. She turned around and saw one of the men, who she knew as "J.R.," was waiving a small handgun, "putting her in fear for her life," according to the media release.
The woman's boyfriend got out of the car to assist her and was struck in the arm and the head above the eye with a baseball bat. Then the male victim fled the area on foot, official said.
When the female victim got back in the car and tried to leave, J.R. reportedly broke the car's passenger window with an unknown object. The woman managed to escape in the vehicle and picked her boyfriend up, according to the report.
The couple called 911 on the way to Manatee Memorial Hospital, where sheriff's deputies met them. The male victim needed stitches for the cut above his eye and surgery for his broken arm, authorities said
