Junior Leadership Manatee Accepting Applications

The organization is aimed at teens interested in participating in Manatee County's future.

BRADENTON, FL – Are youngsters who are interested in becoming a productive citizen in Manatee County can gain some help from the Junior Leadership Manatee program.

Junior Leadership is designed for teens in becoming future leaders by enhancing their knowledge of community resources, current issues and other factors influencing the direction of Manatee County’s future.

Throughout the program, participants gain special access to local businesses, government, agricultural and media staples in the community and learn what career and employment opportunities are available in Manatee County.

The program is now accepting applications for its 2017-18 class. To be considered for participation in Junior Leadership Manatee, applicants must:

  • Attend school in Manatee County or be a resident of Manatee County
  • Be a high school sophomore at the time of application deadline
  • Be a high school junior at the start of the JLM program
  • Have a minimum 2.5 unweighted GPA
  • Have the written endorsement of their high school principal and a parent or guardian
  • Agree to attend the mandatory orientation and all JLM monthly program days
  • Complete all paperwork correctly and have it postmarked on or before Wednesday, May 31.

The cost to participate in Junior Leadership Manatee is $150. Some financial assistance is available based on economic need.
