Man Found Dead In Flooded Road ID’d

Manatee County Sheriff's deputies have identified the man found face down in water on 44th Court East Sunday night.

BRADENTON, FL — The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office has released the identity of a 61-year-old man who was found face down in 6 inches of water on 44th Court East Sunday night. Deputies say Greg E. Morovits’ death is still under investigation by the medical examiner’s office.

Morovits was found just before 9 p.m. Aug. 27 in the 6900 block of 44th Court East. The area he was found in was under water due to recent heavy rains, the agency reported in an email to media Monday. Morovits’ wheelchair was also found tipped over in the road.

While deputies said the death does not appear to be suspicious, the investigation remains open. No further information is available at this time.
