Manatee County Commissioners in June approved a plan to provide financial assistance of $17.5 million to help those hardest by the pandemic. The funding is from the first round of CARES money that has been distributed by the state of Florida.
Manatee County plans to distribute its share in four categories: Public health/safety (30 percent), economic recovery (30 percent), community health and wellbeing (30 percent) as well as government and community facilities (10 percent).
The funds can only be used for expenses incurred between March 1 and Dec. 30 that stem from the coronavirus.
