‘Pup-Date’: Starving Dogs Recovering After Rescue From FL Home, Cops Say
The five large-breed dogs rescued from "deplorable conditions" will be available for adoption after they recover, Bradenton police said.

BRADENTON, FL — Five starving dogs are “recovering well” after being rescued from a home on Friday night, Bradenton police wrote in a “pup-date” on social media about the aggravated animal cruelty case.
On Oct. 14, Bradenton police and Manatee County Animal Welfare executed a search warrant at the home and seized five large-breed dogs, including a great Dane, a cane corso and three pit bulls, that were found “living in deplorable conditions,” police said. Each dog was confined to a crate without proper access to food or water.
A veterinarian determined the dogs were suffering from clear signs of emaciation and chronic malnutrition, consistent with long-term neglect.

The dogs’ owners, Adriana O’Hara, 30, and Timothy Miller, 33, were each arrested on five counts of aggravated animal cruelty, “for the prolonged deprivation of adequate food, water, and care necessary to sustain life and prevent suffering,” police said. The charges are third-degree felonies.
Officers visited the dogs Monday and said they’re putting on weight.

The great Dane mix gained 7 pounds, though part of his tail was amputated.
“For now, the dogs will continue their recovery. The great Dane mix and black pit bull mix will be adoptable in a few weeks. The others have not yet been surrendered, but all will eventually be available to loving homes,” police said.
The cost of their emergency treatment is about $15,000, so far.
Donations to support their care can be made to the Friends of Manatee County Animal Welfare at fomcaw.org. Donors should specify "other" and include case number 2025-007478. Donations can also be made to bradentonbluefoundation.org, which is currently accepting donations on the dogs' behalf.
