Sandbags Available For Manatee Co., Bradenton Residents

Local officials say coastal and low lying areas of Manatee County could experience temporary flooding if the storm brings heavy rain.

BRADENTON, FL—Manatee County is making sandbags available for residents as Tropical Depression Fred approaches Florida.

Local officials say coastal and low-lying areas of Manatee County could experience temporary flooding if the storm brings heavy rain this weekend.

The Manatee County Public Works Department has sandbags available at the Manatee Beach parking lot, Holmes Beach, and "at known flood-prone communities," according to a news release. Self-serve sandbag locations are also available at two locations:

  • Rubonia Community Center, 1309 72nd St. E., Palmetto.
  • Myakka Community Center, 10060 Wauchula Road, Myakka City.

These locations are first come, first served.

Additionally, the city of Bradenton is distributing sandbags at the Public Works Annex on Fridayfrom 8 a.m.-5 p.m and on Saturday from 8 a.m.-noon. Residents are asked to use 9th St. W to enter into the area behind the building.

The city says there is a limit of 10 bags per car; people must show a valid ID to prove they are residents of Bradenton.
