Thirty-four students and three faculty members from State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota’s Music Program attended the 2025 Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) Music Symposium at Jacksonville University in January. Despite freezing temperatures, SCF students participated in ensembles, masterclasses and concerts while also auditioning for scholarships and opportunities within the Jacksonville University Music Program.

SCF had 10 students compete in the prestigious solo Student Artist competition, with three students winning in their categories: Marcus Anderson (voice), Miguel Yanez (percussion) and Jacob Rodriguez (strings). As winners, they received $1,000 tuition waivers to various Florida state universities and performed in the Student Artist Concert. The 10 student competitors were also featured in SCF's "Best of the Best" recital.

SCF faculty also participated in director's meetings with music faculty from across the state, discussing audition processes, scholarship opportunities and transfer student support with Jacksonville University. The symposium saw 171 students in attendance, representing 11 state colleges. SCF’s participation highlighted the strong talent and commitment of its music program.
