More than 450 guns are off the streets of Manatee County following a gun buy back event Saturday at the Manatee County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office collected 459 firearms, including five assault-type weapons during Saturday's event. People turning in the guns received money, and the sheriff's office paid about $38,000 out of the Law Enforcement Trust Fund (seized drug money) to pay for the guns.

More than 450 guns are off the streets of Manatee County following a gun buy back event Saturday at the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office collected 459 firearms, including five assault-type weapons during Saturday's event. People turning in the guns received money, and the sheriff's office paid about $38,000 out of the Law Enforcement Trust Fund (seized drug money) to pay for the guns.
