Skyway Bridge Reopens After Thursday Morning Closing

BRADENTON, FL — Motorists who use the Sunshine Skyway Bridge are free to resume doing so. The Florida Highway Patrol said the bridge reopened to traffic around 1:45 p.m. Dec. 1.

The bridge's closing was announced just after 11:30 a.m. after a bank of heavy fog reduced visibility in the area.

The National Weather Service had issued a dense fog advisory for the area of Tampa Bay between the Skyway Bridge and Egmont Key around 10:48 a.m. The fog bank was estimated to extend outward for about 20 nautical miles, according to the weather service.
