BRADENTON, FL — A substitute teacher was arrested in connection with “inappropriate behavior” involving a 10-year-old student at Abel Elementary School in Bradenton, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The school’s principal contacted the sheriff’s office Monday regarding concerns about the teacher, Malik Belvin, 26, who had been assigned to the classroom for several days the previous week.

When the regular teacher returned, multiple students reported feeling uncomfortable with Belvin’s behavior while he was in their classroom, the sheriff’s office said.
