Temple Terrace Man Killed in Manatee County Hit-And-Run

A Temple Terrace man was killed Monday while walking in Myakka City. A search for the driver involved remains active.

MYAKKA CITY, FL — A 41-year-old Temple Terrace man is dead following a Monday morning hit-and-run crash in Myakka City.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Ford pickup truck or van was heading west on State Road 64 around midnight Oct. 31. As the truck approached Southwest Oak Point Drive, it hit Clarence Herbert Johnson. Troopers say Johnson was walking east on the westbound lane of State Road 64 at the time.

After striking Johnson, troopers say the driver of the truck fled. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle involved is believed to be a Ford super duty pickup or van. The model, year and color of the vehicle are not known.
