ICYMI: Tow To Go Hitting the Road for Halloween Weekend 2016

Motorists who find themselves too impaired to drive over the Halloween weekend can get some help from AAA and Bud Light.

BRADENTON, FL — Tampa Bay area residents with big plans to enjoy spirited celebrations over the upcoming Halloween weekend have a safe place to turn for a ride home. AAA and Bud Light are once again teaming up to offer the Tow To Go service.

AAA’s tow truck drivers plan to offer free rides home for impaired motorists and their vehicles starting Friday, Oct. 28. The service will be available through 6 a.m. Nov. 1.

Tow To Go is a longstanding partnership between the auto club and Bud Light that provides free rides as a last resort to individuals who are too intoxicated to drive. The service is available to both AAA members and non-members free of charge.

Since Tow To Go launched in 1998, the program has provided rides for more than 24,000 impaired drivers, the program’s website reports. It is offered based on availability, providing those who take part free towing within a 10-mile radius of the pickup location.

There are a few caveats with the program:

  • Tow truck drivers can only take a maximum of two people and one vehicle home
  • Advance appointments aren’t allowed as holiday revelers are advised to designate a driver and only use the towing service as a last resort
  • In some situations, a cab might be required or law enforcement might need to be called in to assist in getting an intoxicated motorist home safely

To obtain a ride, call 855-286-9246. The service is also available for other holidays such as Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s, among others.
