BRADENTON, FL — The death of a woman at the scene of a traffic crash on Sunday night is being investigated as a homicide, Bradenton police said in a news release.

Officers responded to a report of a crash in the 2100 block of 8th Avenue East around 8:30 p.m.

They found a middle-aged Hispanic woman with “extensive injuries [that were] inconsistent with the crash,” police said. She died at the scene.

Bradenton police detectives and the Manatee Homicide Investigation Unit have taken over the investigation.

Her death appears to be an isolated incident, police said.
