The deputy had arranged for the meeting to occur inside his civilian car, the sheriff's office said. He wanted to help get more illegal guns off the street. Following the transaction, one of the suspects is seen on a dashboard camera pointing a gun at the deputy trying to rob him. The deputy complied.
Backup officers moved in to arrest the two suspects, and both of them began to run, deputies said. Riley is accused of firing multiple shots at officers. Deputies weren't able to stop him, and they did arrest Garcia on charges of armed robbery, felon in possession of a firearm and dealing in stolen property.
