3 Young Brandon Children In Fatal Crash Were Unrestrained, Says FHP
State troopers said a 1-year-old boy who died, a 2-year-old girl who suffered serious injuries and a 4-year-old were not in car seats.

BRANDON, FL — None of the three young Brandon children involved in a deadly crash on the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway Sunday were in car seats or wearing seatbelts, said the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers continue to investigate the crash and said the mother of the three children may be charged.
A 1-year-old boy died in the crash; a 2-year-old girl was seriously injured and a 4-year-old boy suffered minor injuries.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 11:37 p.m., a 20-year-old Brandon woman was driving a Hyundai Sonata west in the outside lane of the expressway when she lost control and the Hyundai struck a guardrail.

The Hyundai ricocheted back into the travel lanes and collided with a Nissan Pathfinder driven by a 47-year-old Riverview woman.
The 1-year-old boy was taken to the hospital where he died. The driver of the Hyundai and the mother of the three children suffered serious injuries. A 27-year-old passenger from Tampa had minor injuries.
The driver of the Pathfinder suffered minor injuries and her passengers, a 25-year-old Riverview woman and a 6-year-old Riverview girl who was restrained, were uninjured.
