Where to Dispose of Chemicals, Electronics in Hillsborough County

Doing some spring cleaning? If your plans include a trip to one of Hillsborough County’s Household Chemicals & Electronics Collections Centers, you should know that, starting this month, there will be new limits on the quantity of certain items which can be accepted, including paint cans.

The popular centers, each open one Saturday a month, sometimes have to turn people away once storage capacity for certain items is reached. To give as many residents as possible a chance to dispose of their items, load limits will be placed on these materials, per person on the collection day:

• Propane Tanks – five 20-lb. tanks (larger tanks cannot be accepted)
• Electronic Items – five intact items (electronics that are missing the housing aren’t accepted because sharp edges and exposed components can cause injuries)
• Fluorescent Bulbs – 10 bulbs (4 feet and longer)
• Paint – 10 1-gallon cans, and/or five 5-gallon cans or pails

Also, a container of any product, ranging from cleaners to oils, can be no more than 10 gallons in size. 

The Household Chemicals & Electronics Collections Centers are for residential customers. Commercial waste cannot be accepted. The centers are located at:

• Northwest Facility, 9805 N. Sheldon Rd., Tampa, open the first Saturday of each month, 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.

• South County Facility, 13000 U.S. 41, Gibsonton, open the second Saturday of each month, 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.

• East County Facility, 6209 C.R. 579, Seffner, open the third Saturday of each month, 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.
