Best School Flicks: Back-To-School Countdown (Day 4)

The Brandon Patch Back-To-School Countdown proceeds with this Day 4 report on news you can use as you get ready for the opening bell of the first day of classes.

Teachers in the Hillsborough County School District go back to school August 15 to prepare for the first day of school for students, August 23.

Perhaps it is a bit annoying to talk about the first day of classes when the month of July has barely surpassed its mid-way mark.

So keeping in mind that summertime is still upon us, and tight scheduling and early bedtimes are still the stuff of the future, we offer here a posting that blends the "off-from-school" need for things to do with the "back-to-school" mindset that’s lurking within.

We did what you would do — we searched the Internet with keywords to determine which movies rank in the Top 10 for “best movies school."

We focused on each site’s Top 10 contenders and merged the findings — in alphabetical, not rank, order — from Blog at BOU, Complex, Amazon, AMC Filmsite, and Newsweek (from which we used the entire list of 13 picks.

We offer you here a list of 37 movies, and leave you with this trivia question: Which two movies on the list below received four out of five votes of inclusion, as per the sources noted above? (Scroll to the end for the answer.)

TRIVIA ANSWER: “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” and “The Breakfast Club” each appeared on four of the five lists of top school movies, as noted by the sources used for this posting. With three votes each were “Clueless” and “Heathers.” With two votes each, “American Graffiti,” “Dazed and Confused,” “Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” “Goodwill Hunting” and “To Sir With Love."
