Brandon Junior Woman's Club Announces 5th Annual 'Santa's Crop for the Kids'

The crop party for scrapbook enthusiasts is scheduled for Oct. 1 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brandon, hosted by the GFWC Brandon Junior Woman's Club.

The GFWC Brandon Junior Woman's Club has announced details for its Fifth Annual Santa's Crop for the Kids, which was formerly known as "Santa in September."

This year's crop party for scrapbook is scheduled for Oct. 1 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brandon, at 2923 John Moore Road. The nine-hour crop kicks off at 8:30 a.m.

The cost is $35 and includes breakfast, lunch, snacks, raffle and door prizes, a silent auction, vendors, goodie bags and "make-n-takes."

Registrations received by Sept. 17 will earn five extra raffle tickets.

Visit www.santascropforthekids.weebly.com for more information and a registration form.

Proceeds will go to the GFWC Brandon Junior Woman's Club's holiday project, a program for underprivileged school children chosen by guidance counselors at 21 elementary schools in the Greater Brandon area.

The guidance counselors work with the parents to fill out a form with sizes and wants of each child and the woman's club provides these children with:

  • Clothing (shirt, pants or shorts, jacket or sweats, shoes, socks, underwear and pajamas),
  • Books,
  • Three or four toys of their choice,
  • Combs and toiletries,
  • Crayons and other art supplies, and
  • Other goodies.

The guidance counselors bring these children to a party where a magician/clown entertains them, pizza and dessert are served and Santa gives them their gifts.

According to club officials, many of these children would have no other holiday parties without this program. Siblings up to age 18 also are invited to attend and receive gifts.
