Durant Football: Undefeated Cougars Face Chamberlain at Home (Oct. 12)

The undefeated Durant Cougars, following last week's win against their crosstown rivals — the Patriots of Plant City High — celebrate homecoming tonight, Oct. 12, with a game against the Chamberlain Chiefs. (Meanwhile, the Brandon Eagles travel to Plant while the Armwood Hawks face the Chargers at Strawberry Crest.)

Durant faces the Chiefs (1-1 in league play, 2-3 overall), ranked nationally and in the state at 4,190 and 245, respectively, according to MaxPreps.com.

Chamberlain this season beat Bloomingdale (27-13) and Freedom (31-16). The Chiefs lost to Wharton (7-37), Tampa Bay Tech (12-22) and Newsome (28-31).

Meanwhile, the Cougars (5-0 overall, 2-0 in league play) are ranked 381 in the nation and 39 in the state, according to MaxPreps.com. The Cougars this season beat Freedom, Alonso, Brandon, Wharton and Plant City (see chart below).

The Oct. 12 contest kicks off 7:30 p.m. in Plant City, at 4748 Cougar Path Road.

Going into tonight's game, the Cougars in 2012 have amassed 157 points in five outings, averaging out to 31 points per game.
