Family Dog Dies After Fire Sweeps Through Brandon Home

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue was called to a house fire in Brandon by a neighbor who saw smoke coming from the roof of the garage.

BRANDON, FL — A family's dog has died following a fire that swept through a home in Brandon Wednesday morning.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue was called to a house fire at 906 Stratford Manor Drive in Brandon at 7:19 a.m. by a neighbor who saw smoke coming from the garage roof.

The first arriving engine reported heavy smoke coming from the attic and began to attack the fire from inside. When firefighters entered the home, they were met with flames near the kitchen and smoke down to the floor throughout the home.

It took 10 minutes for firefighters to contain the blaze. Additional crews assisted with water supplies and conducted searches during which a dog was found dead inside the house.

Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire.
