Family Escapes Brandon House Fire, Dog Rescued: Fire Officials
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue helped save a dog from a burning home Saturday, officials said.

BRANDON, FL — A family escaped a house fire in Brandon Saturday morning, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said.
Flames erupted from the front windows of a home in the 1900 block of Derbywood Dr., at 11:40 a.m., investigators said. A candle that fell and caught papers on fire is what caused the fire, according to fire officials. The homeowner tried to extinguish the fire with a garden hose. Firefighters arrived and took over. They were able to put the fire out and rescue the family's dog.
Officials said the fire was under control in approximately 10 minutes.
