Fatal Shooting In Brandon Leads To Arrest Of 16-Year-Old

A Brandon teen has been charged with premeditated first-degree murder after deputies said he shot a man multiple times.

BRANDON, FL — A teenager is in custody following a fatal shooting in Brandon Tuesday night.

According to Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister, deputies responded to a report of shots fire just before 9 p.m. in the 200 block of Harmony Lane in Brandon and found a man dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

Detectives learned there had been a verbal fight between the victim and a 16-year-old he knew that turned fatal when the teen retrieved a gun and shot the victim, the sheriff's office said.

The teen left the scene before deputies arrived but was later found and taken into custody.

He's been charged with premeditated first-degree murder.

“Fortunately, our deputies were able to quickly track this suspect down after he fled the scene knowing he took a life," said Chronister. "No argument should ever result in the loss of life. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family.”
