An 18-year-old man was struck by a van while walking on Providence Road Friday night.

BRANDON, FL — An 18-year-old Brandon man was critically injured when he was struck by a van on Providence Road Friday night. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the van’s driver kept right on going after hitting the man.
Deputies say the accident happened around 9:50 p.m. Feb. 10 as Michael Christopher Singh was walking north on Providence Road. Singh was in the “neutral zone,” the area marked with yellow lines, an email from the sheriff’s office said.
As Singh walked into the area north of Brandon Crossing Circle, he was struck from behind by a white Ford work van, the email said. The driver of the vehicle didn’t stop, but “accelerated northbound from the Brandon Crossings apartments” instead.
