Man, 47, Killed In I-75 Crash
A Gibsonton man died following a Monday morning crash on I-75 near State Road 674.
GIBSONTON, FL — A 47-year-old Gibsonton man is dead following a Monday morning crash on Interstate 75 near State Road 674.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Michael Eric Wedden was heading northbound in a Jeep Wrangler around 2:48 a.m. June 5. As Wedden neared milepost 240, troopers say his Jeep left the road “for unknown reasons.”
After traveling onto the shoulder, Wedden’s Jeep overturned, ejecting Wedden.

Wedden was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, a highway patrol report said.
It is unclear if Wedden was wearing a seat belt, the report noted. Alcohol is not a suspected factor in the crash.
