Man Fatally Shot Near Brandon Auto Parts Store, 1 Charged: Police
Gregory Hornsby, 24, faces a first-degree murder charge following the Friday afternoon shooting, authorities said.

BRANDON, FL — A man was fatally shot near a Brandon auto parts store Friday night, authorities said, and another man is facing murder charges in connection with the death.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office responded to an area near Advanced Auto Parts, located at the intersection of Highview Road and East Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard, just before 4:30 p.m. for a reported shooting.
When deputies arrived, authorities said they found 24-year-old Gregory Hornsby and an adult man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to authorities, Hornsby and the man were fighting before the shooting occurred. Hornsby was arrested and charged with first-degree premeditated murder with a firearm and aggravated assault.
"Murder is a heinous crime that should never be tolerated, and we must collectively condemn these actions," Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. "In the face of this darkness, I commend the dedication and efforts of our deputies who pursued justice in this investigation."
