GIBSONTON, FL —A man was killed in Gibsonton early Thursday morning from a knife stabbing that a 15-year-old is accused of, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

The suspect, Hunter Eargood, got into a physical fight before the victim stabbed him in the upper body at a location in the 8000 block of Honeywell Road prior to 1:42 a.m., authorities said. Detectives have not released the relationship between the man and suspect, however they did know each other.

Eargood faces charges of murder in the first degree with a weapon, according to investigators.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

"Deputies who arrived at this scene in Gibsonton overnight were quickly able to identify the suspect and detained him immediately," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "This was an isolated incident and the young suspect will face a charge of First Degree Murder for his reckless decision to harm and kill the victim."
