Photos: ATM Skimmer Suspects Sought By Police
Plant City Police are trying to identify two people accused of putting a skimmer on a credit union's ATM.
PLANT CITY, FL — Plant City Police detectives are on the trail of two people accused of placing a skimmer on a credit union’s ATM recently. While the attempt didn’t go as planned when the skimmer’s adhesive failed, officers would still like to catch up with those involved.
According to Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay, the two suspects were caught on surveillance walking up to the ATM at the 2201 James Redman Parkway GTE Credit Union around 6:50 p.m. March 21. The would-be thieves put the skimmer in place just before a customer made a withdrawal.
Police detectives say when the customer attempted to use the machine, the adhesive the suspects used failed. That, in turn, caused the skimmer to release from the front of the ATM, giving the intended victim a heads up to the problem.
