Reader's Report: Food Truck Rally at Winthrop Pole Barn Today (Jan. 14)
Tasting Tampa's drive to organize food-truck rallies hits the Greater Brandon area Jan. 14, with a focus on bringing "heightened awareness to small businesses" making "a living selling really good food."

The following report was submitted by Kathy L. Collins, the arts and entertainment editor for the Osprey Observer. Collins is also president of the Rotary Club of Brandon South. It was first posted Dec. 30.
_______
Brandon is joining the list of areas designated to have a food truck rally under the auspices of the Tasting Tampa blog site.
"We will have 15 to 20 trucks featuring all types of food,” said Todd Sturtz, of Tasting Tampa. "This is an event that is free and is fun for the whole family. You get to try new foods. Trucks will be there offering everything from mac and cheese sandwich to duck tacos.”
Sturtz explained why his group started organizing the food truck rallies.
"We wanted to bring heightened awareness to small businesses who are making a living selling really good food,” he said. "These businesses cannot afford to build a full-scale restaurant, but they have the ability to make really great and interesting food. Food truck rallies give everyone a chance to sample a variety of cuisine.”
Tasting Tampa started organizing the food truck rallies back in September.
They started with one a month; now, it’s one a week. The food truck rallies can be found all over the area, from Tampa to Pinellas County and all the way to Bradenton.
For more information on Brandon's First Food Truck Rally, or for any other rallies planned for the regional area, visit Tasting Tampa online or email Sturtz at Todd@TastingTampa.com.
If You Go:
Brandon’s First Food Truck Rally is scheduled for Jan. 14, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Winthrop Pole Barn, at 11349 Bloomingdale Ave., between Watson and Providence Roads.
