RUSKIN, FL — A Lennard High School teacher was arrested Thursday on charges of unlawful sexual activities with a minor, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

Anthony Witter, 37, had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old from Nov. 12 to March 19, investigators said. Witter worded as a college success coach at the school. The suspect was not the student's teacher, but they formed a relationship at school, according to authorities. HCSO detectives became aware of the relationship when a friend of the victim told an adult about the relationship.

"Anthony Witter knew that his actions were wrong, and as the adult, he should never have allowed this relationship to develop with a minor,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “No parent should have to worry about their child being preyed upon when they send them to school. We are thankful that another student bravely came forward to report this inappropriate and unacceptable behavior.”
