Sheriff's Report: Girl, 16, Dies From Injuries Sustained at Greater Brandon Bull Ring
Brooke Ann Coats died at Tampa General Hospital during surgery to attend to injuries that reportedly occurred Feb. 18 after being thrown from a bull.

A 16-year-old girl thrown from a bull and kicked in the chest has died from her injuries, which she sustained Feb. 18 at the Remington Rough Stock Bullriding arena in the Greater Brandon area, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Brooke Ann Coats, of 7220 Alafia Ridge Loop in Riverview, died at Tampa General Hospital after surgical attempts to save her life failed. The report further notes that Coats was thrown from the bull at around 8:30 p.m. and that she “was able to stand and walk out of the ring but began experiencing difficulty breathing and collapsed.”
An off-duty paramedic at the arena, at U.S. 301, just north of the Crosstown Expressway, treated Coats there until Hillsborough Fire Rescue arrived and transported her to Tampa General, where she reportedly died during surgery at around 10 p.m.
