Sirens Mark Mid-Morning Commute on Brandon Boulevard

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reportedly is assisting Tampa Police in the apprehension of a suspect in the Brentwood Hills subdivision in the Greater Brandon community of Valrico.

Update / June 16, 1 p.m. / The Tampa Police Department was in Valrico to apprehend a suspect who had apparently barricaded himself inside a Brentwood Hills home, according to Debbie Carter, a spokesperson for the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. “They (Tampa police) were there first and we were there helping t hem,” Carter said. “The individual was talked out [of the home] and taken into custody.”  Brandon Patch is waiting for a Tampa police report and will update accordingly.

Motorists throughout the heart of Brandon pulled over around 10 a.m. this morning as patrol and unmarked cars, along with at least one SWAT team truck, made their way to Valrico.

There, the bevy of vehicles stopped and lined both sides of the street in the quiet, suburban Brentwood Hills subdivision, in the ZIP code 33594, just east of Brandon. At around 10:08 a.m., a Hillsborough County Fire Rescue truck arrived on the scene.

A woman answering the phone at the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were assisting the Tampa Police Department in the apprehension of a suspect. Spokesperson Debbie Carter was in a meeting and unavailable.
