Suspect Charged In Fatal Hillsborough Deputy Crash: Sheriff

Man charged with first-degree murder in death of Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputy, investigators said.

BRANDON, FL — The suspect accused of killing Master Corporal Brian LaVigne on Monday night in a Brandon car crash faces multiple charges, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

Travis Zachary Gabriel Garrett, 28, faces the following charges, according to authorities:

  • First degree felony murder
  • DUI manslaughter
  • Vehicular homicide
  • Battery on a law enforcement officer
  • Resisting arrest with violence
  • Felony criminal mischief
  • Aggravated fleeing to elude
