Pig-a-Palooza Fundraiser at Rotary's Camp Florida

The Valrico Rotary Club at Rotary's Camp Florida on May 5 hosts its inaugural Pig-A-Palooza to benefit local charities, including ECHO, the Bill Carey Unit Boys & Girls Club, Faces of Courage, LifeCare of Brandon and the LLT Academy Learning Fund.

 

Rotarians will gather at in Brandon on May 5 for the Valrico Rotary Club's , aimed to raise money for Greater Brandon charities.

Proceeds from this year's inaugural event, which is slated to become an annual affair, are earmarked for:

  • The Emergency Care Help Organization (ECHO), a food bank and clothes closet on Parsons Avenue in Brandon, for residents in emergency situations;
  • The Bill Carey Unit Boys & Girls Club in Brandon;
  • Faces of Courage, for cancer survivors;
  • Rotary's Camp Florida, a camp for children with special needs, off Lakewood Road in Brandon;
  • The LLT Academy Learning Fund; and
  • LifeCare of Brandon, which provides pregnancy and abortion counseling.

  • For $25, guests will enjoy Southern-style smoked chicken and pork, including all of the fixings, drinks and beer from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Rotary's Camp Florida, 1915 Camp Florida Rd., off Lakewood Road.
  • Pig-a-Palooza also will feature a fully staffs kids' zone with a bounce house, dunk tank and games organized by the Boys & Girls Club of Brandon.
  • All tickets include admission for one child 12 and younger who brings a nonperishable food for the Emergency Care Help Organization (ECHO).
  • The cost for children ages 13 to 18 is $5.
  • Active military, retired military with military ID and first responders pay $20, including a child up to age 16.

The Valrico Rotary Club meets every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Beef O' Brady's in Valrico, at 4330 Bell Shoals Rd.
