Veterans Resource Center: Public Meeting Set
Hillsborough County's Veterans Resource Center is a planned addition to Veterans Memorial Park.

BRANDON, FL — Residents who want to learn more about Hillsborough County’s plans to build a Veterans Resource Center at Veterans Memorial Park will get their chance next week. The county has announced a public meeting for Wednesday, Aug. 31.
The proposed center is an 8,000-square-foot facility that will become the home for the county’s Consumer & Veterans Services agency. It will include a multi-purpose room for training and special events.
Construction on the $1.8 million project at 3602 N. U.S. 301 is expected to begin by the end of the year with targeted completion in the summer of 2017. The project is being paid for through a $1.5 million grant from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity and $300,000 from the county’s capital improvement fund.

Should funding become available, the county would like to add an extra 14,000 to 16,000 square feet to the center to house educational and museum exhibits.
The Aug. 31 meeting is meant to gather resident input on the project. It is being held at the Brandon Regional Service Center, 311 Pauls Drive in Brandon at 6:30 p.m.
