Wife Charged In Husband's Murder

An Apollo Beach woman faces first-degree murder charges in connection with her husband's Christmas Eve death.

APOLLO BEACH, FL — A 42-year-old Apollo Beach woman has been charged with first-degree murder in her husband’s Christmas Eve death.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, paramedics were called to a home in the 500 block of Flame Tree Circle around 9:05 p.m. Dec. 24. They were told there was an unresponsive white male in the home.

When first responders arrived, they found Shawn Singleton, 47, dead. Authorities say Singleton had been shot in the upper torso.

Singleton’s wife, Sherrill, told deputies she had gone out for a walk and found her husband dead on the floor when she returned. The sheriff’s office, however, said the story doesn’t add up.

Sherrill Singleton was charged with first-degree murder on Tuesday evening. Her arrest was announced Wednesday. Authorities have not said how they tied Sherrill Singleton to her husband’s death.
