Man Killed When Car Crashes Into Tractor Trailer On I-4: Troopers

Florida Highway Patrol investigated a crash that closed all westbound lanes of Interstate-4 for more than four hours Monday morning.

SEFFNER, FL — An early Monday morning crash involving a tractor-trailer and a car on Interstate-4 killed a 28-year-old Winter Haven Man in Seffner, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The Winter Haven man sped his car at about 4:30 a.m. near a truck westbound on I-4, investigators said. His car hit the back of the trailer after he changed lanes. Following the crash, his car spun and the force threw him from his vehicle.

A medical staff at a local hospital pronounced the Winter Haven man dead, authorities said.

The Lakeland driver of the tractor-trailer did not experience any injuries, according to police.

All westbound lanes were shutdown immediately following the crash and they were reopened about about 9 a.m., deputies said.
